The anxiety provoking,  "what are you doing New Year's Eve" question is right up there, for some, with "got a Valentine's Day plan?"

No need to expound on the reasons, if you are nodding in agreement you know why.

And, of course, spending the time with your friends and family, sending off a card (candy optional), or popping a bottle of champagne, while very viable options, doesn't quite do it, does it?

Lie.

Rather than being met with that soulful eye look, the slightly averted eyes, the mumbled tsk tsk, really, lie.

I'm off to Paris. Whisked away for a mystery road trip. Being wined and dined at Bouley, Per Se, Wendy's.

In the meanwhile, you can begin vigorously planning for St. Patrick's Day, no angst, no worries, no problem, unless you simply don't look good in green.

  1. So I have to comment on both most recent chats:
    1. Valentine’s Day. Like it or not, it really does matter to us ladies. My wonderful cleaning lady of many years (and divorced of many years) replied today when I asked her, “How was your Valentine’s Day?”: “It was not good because I was alone. I was lonely.” This from a strong lady who says she is not interested in men any more.
I think a card even from her daughter would have helped.
    2. J&J: Having just recently seen a friend who runs a pharmaceutical company (yes, you know who, Liz – just for dinner since he is married and pretty old) – who talked alot about new products is the name of the game, I understand J&J getting a little desparate. But it is sad since I think of them as the epitome of quality and care. I still use their babypowder for my bathing cap.
Liz, keep up the good work ! – Bobye
